The Indian Trademark Office recently published (Nov 21, 2025) its first olfactory trademark for rose scented tires of Sumitomo Rubber (Japan) application no. 5860303, class 12, marking a shift in the country's approach to non-traditional brands. The examiner stated that the 7-dimensional vector is clear, precise, self-contained, intelligible, durable and objective.
Such filing could pave the way for future trademark applications involving sound, texture, taste and motion.
