"La Mafia" is changing its name. Even brands, at times, have a change of heart.

The Spanish restaurant chain “La Mafia Sits at the Table” is rebranding after years of legal and cultural controversy.
Spanish authorities, in line with earlier EU rulings, found the trademark to be contrary to public order and morality, upholding objections raised by Italy. The name was criticized for trivializing organized crime and damaging the country’s image.
The company has now opted for a new identity: “La Famiglia Sits at the Table,” reflecting a shift toward more appropriate cultural and brand values.
👉 A clear example of how branding, intellectual property, and cultural sensitivity intersect in global markets.
