The European Patent Office (EPO) has announced that the official fees to be paid to the EPO will increase as of April 01, 2024.
The new amounts will be applicable to official fees paid on or after April 01, 2024.
How to save costs
In order to save costs, the following actions can be taken before April 01, 2024:
- EPO regional phase: Entering EP regional phase of PCT application;
- Direct EP Filing: Filing EP application if priority claim period is still open;
- Renewal fees: Pay renewal fees whose deadline is between April 1, 2024 and June 30, 2024
(the annuity fees can be paid three months in advance of the deadline);
- Fee for grant: Pay the grant fees if an intention to grant communication has been already issued.
